SSince iOS 10 upgrade, rather than seeing the "fuzzy" version of the home screen wallpaper behind a folder of apps as it opens the screen goes black in the background. Not a big problem, but inconsistent with previous action and how iPhone behaves with ios10

I too was wondering about this effect on my iPhone.
The solution was in:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Increase Contrast > Reduce Transparency Option.
Turning it to "Off" solved it for me.

Thanks for the suggestion - I looked at that setting and it was already off. Just to be sure I tried turning it on, checking what happene, and turning it off again. Nothing changed, I'm still getting the black background.
Managed to fix this myself. I updated today my wife's identical iPad and there was no problem. The answer was to do a reset on mine. Annoying because so much stuff then had to be reset!
