Hello malandata,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding since updating to iOS 10, you're no longer getting Message notifications on your iPhone. I don''t go one day without messaging. I know how important it is to get properly notified of new messages. I am happy to help get this resolved with you.
Since you've confirmed your settings, I recommend restarting your iPhone. This can resolve many unexpected behaviors. Use the steps below if needed.
- Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
- Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
- After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue persists the next option would be to Reset All Settings. This takes all settings back to default, including Wi-Fi networks and passwords, alerts, notifications, brightness, wallpaper, and sounds. This will also remove Apple Pay cards. Even though not content is lost with this step, it's a good idea to back up first. If you don't have a recent backup, use the link below.
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Once you've successfully backed up, Reset All Settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
Have a great day!
