Q: PLEASE RELEASE IOS 10 IPAD MINI 1st Generation

Hello. I was so excited about the new IOS 10 update. On the day of release I looked at the availalable software updates and it wasn't there. I searched for some APPLE FORUMS, and to my surprise, I read that they wont be releasing IOS 10 on iPad mini first generation. Please release it, I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Goodbye!

iPad Mini, iOS 9.3.5, null

Your iPad mini 1 hardware is not up to task, you'll need an iPad mini 2 or later.

    1. This is a a user-to-user technical support forum. You are not addressing apple. you can offer feed to Apple here.
    2. If that model iPad had the specs to handle iOS 10, it would have been released for it.

It is really unfortunate that the 1st Gen Ipad mini does not meet the requirements to run this new ios. I would have hope to see it on it as well.

    Why are you surprised?

We're onto the 4th generation of iPad Mini, now!

The 1st gen iPad Mini is functionally the same as the iPad 2 and almost as old.

Apple discontinued iOS upgrades for iPad 2 and 1st gen Mini for the same reasons.

They are both only 32 bit architectures, limited 512 MBs of RAM in both, and the cpus only has 2 cores. and no graphics co processors.

I am, actually, surprised that Apple left the iPad 4 as a qualifying iOS 1O device.

Other than a faster A6X cpu (1.4 Ghz) ,1 GB of RAM, the more recent lightning connection (early iPad 4 models still had the 30 pin dock connection), the iPad 4's hardware architecture is still 32 bit, still only has a 2 core cpu and the iPad 4 has no graphics coprocessor, either!

iPad 4 has virtually the same specs as the iPad 3, which only has a 1.0 Ghz A6 cpu, which Apple also discontinued for iOS 10.
