Hello Kluunsi,
Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with Mail on your Mac is not what you expect. If I understand correctly, you are able to open the Mail app, but the mailboxes show as offline. Here are a couple of steps that can help narrow down and resolve this issue:
1. First, try quitting the Mail app and then hold the Shift key while you open the app. This temporarily prevent an app from re-opening its documents and windows and can help resolve issues like yours.
Automatically re-open windows, apps, and documents on your Mac
2. Next, use the built in Mail Connection Doctor to get more specific info about why these mailboxes are showing offline and how to get them working properly again.
Use Mail Connection Doctor
If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac
3. Use "safe mode" to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, delete system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. Log into your user account and test the issue again. If the issue is resolved, then restart your Mac normally and test the Mail issue again.
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode
Cheers!
