Q: iOS10 Photo Scanning Stopped

Not the end of the world I recognise but the face scanning in iOS10 on my iPhone 6 has been stuck at a certain number all of today.

The 'People' album says:

"1,896 Photos Scanned

To finish scanning your remaining 4,949 photos, lock your iPhone and connect it to power."

I have done such a thing and left it for a few hours this afternoon and it still says 1,896 photos.  Have rebooted and killed the photos app a few times but it doesn't restart.

Anyone else had this and been able to fix it?

    Hi

It finally finished the photo scan but I'm not sure what's the solution. I've traveled to Colombia and it finished. I don't know if it's from using a different wifi or just because I took a lot of new pictures and in the process of scan the new ones it finished the other ones.

Maybe you guys can try to take a lot of pics (I have 40 new pics), block and charge the cell phone to see what happens.

    Greetings

I Had the same problem and I turned off the iCloud photo librarY. When I turned it back on and all my photos had loaded they all scanned within 24 hours. Worth a shot.

    Hi,

I had the same issue. Someone suggested that I turn-off and turn-on the iCloud Photo Library. I did that and still the scanning wouldn't progress.

Then, what I tried was the following : connect the phone to the power but not lock it. After a while the phone would auto-lock. And this has solved my problem. In all my previous attempts to resolve this issue, I would lock connect the phone to the power and also lock it with the lock key.

    Hope this helps.
