Q: Apple watch series 1 not working after iOS10 update. Connection lost to my iPhone 5S.

Today I decided to upgrade my iPhone5S from 9.3.5 to iOS 10.0.1.

After iPhone was updated, my Apple Watch series 1 (v2.2.2) couldn't be found anymore.

I wonder if protocol between them are incompatible or something...???

I have turned on/off flight-mode and blue-tooth serveral times on both sides, and restarted the devices several times without success.

Pair a new AppleWatch doesn't show the watch either...

Right now I try to restore my latest iPhone backup from earlier today, and see if the connection between them works again.

Anyone else noticed this problem? Should I wait for new update on iPhone5S?

I'm very disappointed on this iOS10 update so far.

I am having the same issue.  I have the iPhone 6 Plus, upgraded to iOS10 this morning and my Apple Watch is no longer in sync with my phone.  I did a factory reset of my iPhone and now it will not pair with my phone.

    Hi

As you have restored your iPhone, it is no longer paired with your Apple Watch.

To re-pair them, you will first need to erase your watch:

    • On your watch, go to: Home screen (via a single press on the Digital Crown) > Settings (cog icon) > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.

The same answer also applies after restoring your iPhone to factory settings.

Just tried this and it still does not work.  Both my phone and my watch have been reset to factory settings.

I had a similar problem. I updated my iPhone to version 10.0.1 then decided to see if I could install the version 3.0 update for my watch too. My watch claimed it couldn't connect with the iPhone anymore. Ultimately I unpaired the phone and watch reset the watch (scary that) and re-paired the phone and watch. The update went fine after that. It does take a while though.

d1mag is correct in his troubleshooting suggestions.  Although, I had to restart my phone to get those steps to work.

I followed these steps (setting up watch as new and resetting network settings on iPhone) as advised by support, but the watch and the phone appear to fail reconnect when switching between bluetooth and wifi.  This issue is still present with iOS 10.0.2.
