i have a few questions re the series 2 watch.
Can I use the Strava app on the watch (without the iphone)
Can I play Apple Music through the watch (without the iPhone)
can I listen to Apple Music and use strava to track my run simultaneously (without the phone)
Will the watch (using Strava) show my elevations

You won't be able to play Apple Music without the iPhone. As to your questions regarding Strava you would be better served to direct those questions to them.

Yes, the Watch can hold music that you have ripped or purchase from the Apple Store, Amazon, etc. that is in your Library. It cannot use the streaming Apple Music subscription without the iPhone.
You cannot do anything without an iPhone, you cannot even set up the watch without an iPhone.
For the strava strap, you need the iPhone to download and install the Strava App on the watch.
Beyond that, all questions relating to the Strava strap would be better answered by Strava themselves.

If that is item 1 in my earlier post then you will need to have your iPhone with you unless you load select songs from a playlist.
Yes, you can sync music obtained through the Apple Music subscription service to the Watch and can listen to it without having the phone nearby.
