With iOS 9 one thing that always annoyed me was when opening the messaging app it would default to the last conversation thread you used. I would much prefer if it just opened to the main screen of all my conversations. I updated to iOS 10 and now whatsapp is doing this too! very annoying. Is there any way to change this behaviou?

This is what I mean, I always fully close apps after exiting. But it still brings me back to the last thread, much like safari takes you to the last viewed page even after fully closing it

What happens when you exit out of a message thread and close the message app and open it up again? It should take you to the main page and not the last thread you had open.
