You can't. Perhaps if you would tell us the story about why you want to, we can offer some advice.

In that case I doubt anyone can help but I'll tell you the details anyway...

Like most people I have acquired several AppleID's over the years. The one I use to log into this community I only use for that purpose, to log in here. I never use that e-mail account for anything else. It was created because Apple, for some unknown reason, doesn't allow their own (dot)me e-mail addresses as a Apple ID. The problem is I don't come here often anymore so I'm always forgetting the e-mail address (AppleID) to log in. Today it took me over 2 hours to trace down the info just to log in.

My other Apple ID I use on a regular basis. I wanted to use it to log in here, but I can't. I called Apple today and they told me to try using Family Sharing and I should be able to log in here using my preferred e-mail Apple ID. I set up Family Sharing but when I try to log in using the preferred AppleID it sends me to another Apple Community account. I figured that if I deleted that account then everything should work correctly (log in to my main Apple Community account using the preferred Apple ID). It's really frustrating that Apple, a company known for supposedly making using the computer simple, won't let you do something as straight forward and simple as change your e-mail account for the community

What you are describing is really "reclaiming the use of one or more email addresses" (I think)

At bottom, your MyApple8MyPC for here and any others you have CANNOT be COMBINED for any reason.

You CAN start over here using any other Apple ID that you control - but that doesn't sound appealing to me.

If I was right in my initial understanding, what you must do is get (or use) another email account from gMail or Yahoo and start changing your email addresses on your Apple IDs to taste

Apple doesn't allow you to use a AppleID that is already created. They want me to create another (new) AppleID - just to log in here, but that wouldn't solve anything. If I didn't know better I'd say that Apple makes money by the creation of Apple IDs. There is no other logical reason why they wouldn't allow customers to combine or use existing Apple IDs.

Thanks anyway for trying. I do appreciate that. I'll probably just have to stop coming here to help people since it's such a hassle having this Apple ID issue.

There might be some confusion here:

An Apple ID = an email address. Or: your Apple ID consists of an email address. You can change that email address any time UNLESS it is an @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com - see here:

May be that none of us are understanding one another - you, me & Apple

One thing I can promise you is that I "own" 3 Apple IDs and can log into ASC with all 3 -

I only USE ChitlinsCC to post here, but I can act "like a fly on the wall" with the others - in other words, I can set prefs, upload profile pics, choose a stock avatar, follow people and content, make Bookmarks.

If you cannot login with an existing Apple ID, you may be talking with the wrong section of Apple.

If I had a problem with mine, in any way, I would do what many folks are advised to do...

Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support

If they cannot help with contacting the Hosts (moderators/admins) here in ASC, we can use our reporting system to get them to contact you regarding your issue

From my second post, Apples remedy was to use Family Sharing.

When I try to log in with the preferred Apple ID (via Family Sharing) I log into this account (MyApple8MyPC) which was created by mistake when I was trying to log in (to my main account) today. Hence why I am trying to delete this account.

This is where I went today. They were the ones who told me to use Family Sharing.

    OK.

Last first.. they were trying a "workaround" based on their understanding of your issue.

MY understanding is that you cannot login to ASC with an "old" existing Apple ID, right?

Now let me explain a few of things

There are TWO databases of "Apple IDs" - they both are and aren't the same

The common denominator is your Primary email address (your true Apple ID - your Username is NOT your Apple ID)

One is the MAIN Apple database for Apple ID that governs purchases in Stores and the like

    screenshot-appleid.apple.com 2016-09-14 22-04-47.png

Two is the database for ASC (here)

    screenshot-idmsa.apple.com 2016-09-14 21-59-07.png

    Why the 2nd?

Because ASC is a separate entity that runs on JiveSoftware, a "collaboration" software that maintains its own user data and content data

    JiveWare has two databases itself

    - one for "content" = messages and such

    AND

    - one for Users = everything about your prefs and selections here

IF you cannot login to ASC on the 2nd image page with ANY Apple ID you control - We need to Contact the Hosts (admins of the forum software) so that they can find out why and fix it

ONLY the ASC Hosts can help with ASC issues - they control the JiveWare

I know that Apple Support is sort of clueless about ASC because I once had an issue that required contacting the Hosts when I first joined -- and it took FIVE call transfers at Regular Apple Support just to find out an email address for the Hosts - even the Senior Engineer (and I mean SENIOR) that finally found it could NOT find a phone number for the Hosts!

Please verify that I have understood that you simply cannot login here with the Apple ID with which you want, and I will pull the trigger on contacting the Hosts

Correct, but you do not need to do anything (just yet). I called Apple again and the young lady that I spoke with said she knew someone who works on the forum. She is going to try to connect them to see if they can change the e-mail address of my main Apple Support Community account. Once that happens I should be able to login with the correct Apple ID and I can then delete the old e-mail account that I don't use for anything but logging in here.

Your last part of your last sentence makes me think I still do not quite grasp it really - it may be that we need to define terms better

    Light = putting fire to

Light = a source of illumination

Yep it gets confusing quickly. The easiest solution is to just change the e-mail address on my main Apple Support Community account, to the e-mail used from the Apple Support Community that I accidentally created today. Then I'll be able to log into my main Apple Support Community account with the good Apple ID, and delete this Apple Support Community account and e-mail (that I don't use for anything but logging in here).

It would be great if users could just change their own e-mail account that's associated with their Apple Support Community account, but if they (Apple) can do it then everything will work out the same, except for losing some hair do to the added frustration The weekend is coming up so they may not be able to do anything until Monday. I'll update this thread when I hear back from them. Thanks again for sticking by and trying to help. I really do appreciate it

    OK.

Your 2nd paragraph tells the tale - and gets back to my 1st(?) post

    • MyMac8MyPC uses the DESIRED email address, right?
    • Your preferred Apple ID uses another email address, right?

You NOW need a third email address - here is why

    • you need to RECLAIM your desired email address by replacing it on MyMac8MyPC Apple ID with the 3rd email address
    • THEN, change your preferred Apple ID's email address with your preferred (now FREE to use) email address

you see why you can;t just "swap" them? you can't use one that is already in use! thus, the 3rd one.

    Gettit?

Actually that's exactly what they did, they swapped both of my e-mail address's (both already in use) and I can now log in with a apple-email (.me) Apple ID. When I first created the account they told me it "wasn't possible". Guess they found a way

THANKS for all of your help ChitlinsCC, and a BIG shout out goes to Shelly S. at Apple tech support for making all of this magic happen!
