Q: iPhone 5s will not turn on, charge, or connect to a computer after updating to iOS 10

I have had my iPhone 5s for more than 2 years now and I have always done my best to keep it in great condition. I have only ever dropped it a handful of times and the phone really has no physical damage that I am aware of. The device has been working perfectly ever since I bought it, up until now at least.

Last night I downloaded the new iOS 10 update through the WiFi update service on the phone. After the update my phone was working perfectly for about 4 hours and everything seemed to be fine. Then all of a sudden my phone just shut off and the screen went black. I tried to turn the phone on by just holding the power button because I thought that the phone had just crashed, but that did not work. Then I tried to force the phone to restart by holding down the Power/Sleep button and the home button together for 20 seconds but still the phone would not respond at all. The screen was still black and I started to panic. The next thing I thought to do was to plug the phone into a power source and see if maybe the phone was just totally dead and out of battery. So I went and got my apple charger and cable that came with the phone and plugged it in. Once the phone was plugged in the red "low power" battery icon showed up on my screen for about 3 seconds, and then the white apple logo flashed on the screen. At this point I was relieved because I thought my phone was turning back on but that was not the case. After the apple logo flashed on the screen, the screen just went black again. But not black like the phone was off. The LCD was still on but it was just stuck black. I left the phone like this plugged in for about 10 minutes and nothing else happened. It just stayed on the black screen. My first thought was to maybe try another cable or charger because I know that sometimes this can cause problems with the phone. So I went and grabbed my roommates iPhone 6 charger and tried that but still the same thing happened. At this point I thought that maybe I should just connect my phone to my computer and try to restore it so that I could get it working again. I plugged it into my computer but my phone would not show up in iTunes so I held down the power button and the sleep button again in an attempt to force the phone to restart once again. This brought me back the red "low power" battery icon and the apple logo flashed on screen and my computer recognized the phone for a split second. Then my device just went back that black screen. So I thought that maybe I would need to put my phone into DFU mode for my computer to recognize it. That way I could at least factory restore it so I could use my phone again. I tried all of the steps to put my phone into DFU mode but none of them worked.

Since trying all of these steps and plenty other guides on how to fix iPhones not starting on Youtube and other sites my phone still has not been working. I don't know what else I can do. The iPhone has been plugged into a power source for about 5 hours now and nothing has changed.

I really need my phone for my job and for school and I can't afford to go buy a new phone right now because I'm a broke college student who can barely afford to feed himself. If anyone has figured out a solution to problems like this or similar to this please let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
