How to export a portion of a track?

I have the latest updates/versions of GarageBand and OS X. I've been using GarageBand to record, in a single track, my rehearsals and jams. I'd like to cut segments of this main track (individual songs) and export them as MP3s. I'm able to segment the individual songs, but when I save, the entire hour-long track is processed.

How can I export individual songs from one long, live recording track?

Hi leruth,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like you want to export a portion of a track and not the whole thing.
One way you can do that is to turn on cycle region at the bottom of the Garageband window. A yellow bar will appear over you track. You can also adjust the length of the bar.
The go to the Menu bar and click Share > Export to disk, it will then export that segment to where you want it saved.

Which version of GarageBand are you using?

In addition to the Cycle Area method described by Sterling, you can also select just the regions you want to bounce from the track and use "Share song to Disk" from the Share menu in GarageBand 10. This should work, if the Cycle Area is not active. Enable the checkmark "Export cycle area or length of selected regions" in the Share > Export Song to Disk panel.
