Q: Graphics Driver update for Bootcamp 6.0 Issues

After making a fresh install of Windows 10 1607, I proceeded with installing Bootcamp drivers AppleBcUpdate.exe on my MacbookPro 11,5 i7 Dual Graphics.

Everything worked fine after restarting once the installation was done. Now, I checked Apple Software Update and it gave me a few updates. Specifically the bottom three in the picture below.

It restarted after that and then "Apple Software Update" updated itself twice before offering a new update to the Graphics Driver.

This update screwed up the system. Auto brightness doesn't work anymore. Brightness keys don't do anything at all. I reinstalled bootcamp on a fresh drive just to isolated this issue.

Does anyone have a solution to this? Any suggestions? If anyone from Apple ever bothers to read this, then please test your drivers before sending them out.

Remove Windows, re-install it, and create a Windows System Restore point, disable all Intel GPU updates, and then apply remaining updates and test.

The issue is not with the Intel GPU update. My system has Radeon M370X alongside.

The Graphics update that you see in the screenshot is an AMD driver.

The same rules apply for AMD.  Create a restore point before you apply updates.

I'll try it out and get back with results.

As suggested, I reinstalled Windows 10 and used the restore point feature to test which update affects the display brightness.

I can confirm that the Graphics Driver Update for Boot Camp disables auto brightness along with brightness up-down keys. Restoring to a Restore Point before installation of this driver restores display brightness functionality.

@Apple, don't update drivers when they break other system features.

Got the same issue - so annoying.

The Function + F2 / F3 keys don't work even though I have the function keys enabled in bootcamp settings.

Can't change brightness at all - no option in Windows 10 display settings and the only way I have found to adjust brightness is to go through the AMD Raedon settings control panel.

Terrible... Might go back to Parallels

Don't want to pave it yet. Will try a few more things.

If you were luck enough to have a system restore point to before the Graphic driver update, try restoring. I haven't had any issues with the old driver so far.

If you have time, you could try a fresh(painful) install of Windows 10, and this time ignore the Graphics Update.

No point in going back to parallels, you'll be taking a huge performance hit.
