Cost of 27" iMac logic board replacement (late 2012)

Hello all! I am the unfortunate victim of a failure of my late 2012 27" iMac logic board.

I happened to take it a non-Apple repair place and they quoted me $800 for the logic board, plus $150 for installation. So a total of $950 - which is indeed a lot (at least I can put in an SSD at the same time for free).

I was curious how much Apple would charge for this repair- they won't answer that question over the phone, and I'd prefer not to lug the thing into Apple. Anyone know? Anyone have any thoughts on what an appropriate price range is for this repair?

Thanks!

Thanks- just to be clear, you cannot 'call a local Apple store for an estimate'. You need to bring the computer in. Given that it is a repair I'm sure many have done, I was curious what others had paid. I would prefer not to go to the store where my iMac currently is, lug it to an Apple store, and find out that Apple will charge more than the independent dealer.
