Q: Email pop ups
I Personally prefer to have email pop up notifications as soon as any emails arrives in the Inbox. It would be very helpful to have it during emergenc.

Settings > Notifications > Mail.
Allow Notifications > "on". Then, choose the action you want when a new email arrives: sounds, banners, badges, alerts... etc.
