The keyboard seems to float up to midscreen in IOS10. I've noticed that in some apps, notably the chat window of Words With Friends, the keyboard actually covers the entry line, obscuring what you are typing! I don't know if this is an IOS glitch or an app issue.

Hi. Your keyboard is undocked. Hold the keyboard icon in the lower right and slide to Dock. You can disable this feature permanently by turning off Settings > General > Keyboard > Split Keyboard.

Wow!! Thank you so much! That is a feature I was totally unaware of.
Just curious, what would be a good use of the split keyboard? When would it come in handy!
Where does it say split screen? I do not have this under settings.

What type of iPad do you have?
The Split keyboard option is not available on an iPad Pro 12".

Generally on the smaller iPads it is there so you can type using your thumbs while holding the iPad in front of you. The keyboard sections are placed so you can easily reach the keys with your thumbs while holding onto the iPad.
Split keyboard is especially handy on a phone!
