Q: Horizontal Lines Display Issue

Hello,

I have a 13" MBP w/ Retina, just over a year old (hmm...) that has been stricken by an increasingly intermittent display problem where multi-coloured lines afflict the screen in seemingly random areas.

It started out just here and there, for perhaps 1-3 seconds upon startup (choosing my profile and entering my password, NOT during the Apple logo), and some random occurrences now and then, sometimes so little I would barely notice.  Since, it has grown into 1-2 minutes on startup, and now it's gotten to the point where it consumes the entire screen without clearing up at all, ever.

EXCEPT:  during the Apple logo boot (no lines), after i enter my password and the desktop fades into view (no lines during fade-in), when I switch the background to a solid, DARK colour, such as grey or black NO LINES, during the Screen-Saver (0 lines whatsoever) and also during shutdown, after I click ok, the desktop fades out before shutting off (no lines during fade out).

Along with the desktop background colours, if i open a WHITE window, such as chrome, safari, finder, trash bin, etc, the lines go CRAZY around the area where I drag that window, and sometimes not at all.  But if it is a dark window, such as spotify, the screen is flawless.

The machine works flawlessly in every other aspect of performance except for this weird display issue... any insight into what it might be, software or hardware, I'd love to hear it.  VERY curious.

I've never dropped or spilled the machine, and yes, I've tried the PRAM and SMC resets.  Many. Times.

Thank You
