Unwanted features and apps with updates

I recently updated and found changes to Photos that I hate, and seem to have permanently altered a program I liked as it was. Is there a way to turn this off?

I do not want to auto-scan to group faces or places. The only faces it grouped were stock images of a woman I've never met.

It messes up my little folder system, with two folders I have no intention of using.

Stop giving me "features" and apps I have no use for.

iPad Mini, iOS 10

Photos is installed as part of iOS, so you cannot revert to the previous version, unless you restore the iPhone to the previous iOS version.

What do you mean by new two folders? What is new are the additional Memories, Places, and Persons. These new Photos Library items have been highly advertised and promoted by Apple for more than half a year as the biggest improvement of Photos in iOS 10 and macOS Sierra on the Mac. You could have been warned. And there is no way to disable them, sorry. They are created automatically. The new Photos version is built on these new features. Just ignore the new items and create your albums and folders just like before.

The faces detection is taking a lot of time and will run in the background, when your iPhone is locked and connected to power. In a few days you will probably be seeing more detected persons, even if you do not want them on your iPhone.

You may want to send your feedback directly to Apple. Use the feedback form. http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

To get unwanted "Persons" out of the way, you can hide the persons you are not interested in, but you cannot prevent your iPhone from processing the photos for the faces scan, and you cannot hide the memories and Persons albums.

See the User Guide: http://help.apple.com/iphone/10/#/iph9c7ee918c

Hide and unhide people. Tap Albums, tap People, tap Select, tap the people you want to hide, then tap Hide. To unhide people, tap Show Hidden People, tap Select, tap people, then tap Unhide. Photos that contain hidden people don’t appear in Moments, Collections, Years, and Memories but are visible in albums.
