Q: most regions disappeared but not quite gone

strange things have been happening when i change instrument patches, like all automated data disappearing when i switch amps, or regions gone with a different mic preamp. annoying but it has always been a couple history steps back as long as i keep my eye on it. today however i switched patches on a drum machine. or maybe drummers aren't technically a patch, nomatta. after switching drummers, all audio files and region locations disappeared and hundreds of steps back into the previous day made no diff. they're still visible in project audio browser though so i'm going to refrain from freaking for now. i refreshed and updated from track and file editor, main menu and project audio file menus. it reads through all the takes and knows where they are and even where they belong in their respective take regions. TIA for any help ...

talking to myself but for whomever else this happens to ... i gave up and went to time machine. the phenomenon of disappearing regions persists too. frustrating when you do forty moves on a couple bars of music only to find that the drums are gone thirty bars ahead. tedious to be zooming in and out constantly to mind the store.

"why not lock the channels your not working on?"

i would love to do that. but for me the lock never unlocks every region on every channel. only some. something gets burried in the regions, midi and especially audio files. i've read about others gripe with that problem. I've noticed it since 9.0.x comon guys.

That's a very serious, and unheard of problem.  I'd do a few things ASAP.  First, I'd report this to Apple.  In the Logic Pro X menu, to Provide Feedback.  Yes, they really do read those.

Then I'd verify all my drives have at least 15% (more the better) of their total capacity left as free space.

Next I'd run Disk Utility and First Aid all drives.

After that, I'd get a copy of Disk Warrior and repairs the directories on all my drives.

If the problem still persists, I'd take that iMac into an Apple store to have it checked out.  Something ain't right.

thanks for that ben. those are all just good things to do once in awhile period. i have done most of those things in recent weeks except disk warrior. i feel rather confident that a couple of those drum patches and guitar amp profiles are corrupt or buggy or they got in a fight with my HD500 PODFX and or my Bleu USB mic. i backed out to a time machine backup and cut bait on the lost production.
