iOS 10 battery drain / overheating

I Updated my iPhone 6 64gb to iOS 10 yesterday, today with normal low usage my battery (charged every night) has dropped from 100% to 38% in just over 1 hour I've also noticed that in use it is getting very hot something it never did under iOS 9, so apart from the positive of now having a winter pocket hand warmer it will be a useless phone after mid day I hope iOS 10.0.2 comes out quickly to address this issue, a very disappointed Mac user since Mac OS 8.5

I did the factory reset and set up the phone from the back up, turned off all my locations services and app refesh and I swear it is worse! A waste of two hours and the Apple Support agent told me it was normal! No way buddy!!!! I have had an iPhone for about 9 years and never had it run hot constantly and drain my battery so fast with barely any use! The guy must thought I was clueless to feed me that BS! Bottom Line, don't waste your time! I called Apple Support again and because the fun is running so hot now the speaker is not work, this IOS10 is damaging my phone and I am really ****** off about it! I can't believe this. They want me to factory reset again and this type set it up as new! Unreal.

Thanks Todd, that did help. I cleared a lot of the ugly reminder boxes on the new start screen for iOS10 resulting in a significant change to "heating and battery drain".

Would LOVE the option to not have these new "bells and whistles" in my face. Didn't Apple consider that we might already have our "workflow" methods in place?

As I said above, I'm still facing the problem. But the phone seems to be cooling down a bit. I had read somewhere online that the iPhone settles with the new software within a week. This maybe happening as I have not encountered any major heating issues in the last 48 hours.

iOS 10 is also clunky & not as smooth like the previous iOS 9.3.5. Some apps refuse to open and I get a black screen sometimes.

But the battery drain persists & it's bad. I thought of doing a hard reset but then dropped the idea as there are rumours that Apple will release a fix this week. Please Apple get this done with!

I Am experiencing the same issue. I only needed to charge my iphone 6 maybe twice a day.

Now i'm having to recharge it up to 5 times. It just lost 50% in the space of 20 mins. It is overheating too and since I updated to ios 10. my messages dont load. I have to keep switching it off

I Love the new look of ios10 But hate that my phone has been so affected by the upgrade. I hope they sort it very soon!

I have the same problem for a week now on my iPhone 6S, and I even reported this heating and Battery drainage bug during the public beta of IOS 10 on my other iPhone 6. I also tried - after advise form the sesond level support - to reset al network setting; AT NO AVAIL. on my iPhone 6 (this is a testing device for me) I also made a factory reset and did not use any Back up. It is still the same. The iPhone becomes VERY VERY HOT and the battery drains in 2-3 hours.

On the iPhone 6S plus of my son, it is by the way exactly the same. Overheating and battery drainage 😟

Sorry Apple, but this is the worst iOS-update I experienced since I am with you (7 years ago). PLEASE PROVIDE A DECENT UPDATE THAT FIXES THESE PROBLEMS, BECAUSE AND THE MOMENT iPhones are barely usable !!!!!!!

This has now happened a few times in the last few days. It powers itself off when it says the power is at 34% and then if I get it to restart it says it is at something like 8%. When I plug it in and restart, by the time it powers up it is at 40% or more. This is unacceptable, and it has interfered with me doing business.

Apple, this needs a fix right away. I have an Apple 6s, with which I had ZERO problems prior to the iOS 10 upgrade. My iPhones are generally very pristine when it comes time to upgrade, I usually have no problems and generally scoff at other "smart phones" BUT today I am very frustrated.
