Sep 29, 2016 1:46 AM in response to miguel_forumby sunilpta,@miguel_forum. Thank you for the comprehensive advise. I have a 5s and was working perfectly before the update to iOS10. Now with all apps off and 100% battery before bed, and I am late so many times in the morning cause my battery died sometime during the night. I tried the reset network option but it did not work. This is my work phone so not going to try the Beta version. We need apple to come to the party and offer a solution Before loosing a lot of faithful clients.

Sep 29, 2016 6:51 AM in response to Steve vby EmmanCess,I have the same problem too on 6plus I've notice that the temperature is unusually high.
Try Disabling the Background App Refresh
Settings > General > Background App Refresh > DisableThere is a noticeable changes in temp and how the battery is discharging.

Sep 29, 2016 7:28 AM in response to Herself917by Herself917,I had this happen with my iPHONE 7. I did everything mentioned and still had the problem. Phone was 10 days old. Made an appointment at the genius bar and it was replaced in 10 minutes. The two people I spoke with at Apple were unaware of the issue. I showed the employee at the genius bar this thread. If you have done everything, make an appointment at Apple.

Sep 29, 2016 8:27 AM in response to Steve vby Ernest House,iOS 10 is a horrible update. What was a perfectly fine and snappy iPhone 5s is now a clunky, slow and hard to use device. It's also dumber. on iOS 9 I could move freely and seamlessly in and out of my car's bluetooth connectivity. On iOS 10, once my phone connects to the car, whether I use it or not, the phone heats up and the battery starts draining.
Even the battery display logic is messed up. Before a hard reset, battery was 78%. After restarting, it was 20%. After charging a minute it was 70%.
I'm still recovering from seeing my Apple device display a blue screen on the restart. Talk about Apple going down hill... XD

Sep 29, 2016 11:48 AM in response to Steve vby 330gtc,I have an iphone 5s that I can use for two days before having to charge. But then I updated to 10.0.2 and couldn't get more than about 9 hours on a charge. I looked at so many forums. Then I accidentally swiped right on my home page and saw a long list of widgets that were seemingly updating constantly. Widgets I used and many I never use. I deleted all of them and now my battery life is back to normal.

Sep 29, 2016 12:37 PM in response to 330gtcby tyler from fort lauderdale,OK...but why should we lose battery and have the phone heating up BECAUSE od IOS 10? Many of us want those running and had them running on IOS 9 without a problem. In my case, I have a 6Plus. So we are supposed to be ok with an update that makes us turn off all bells and whistles? I would rather have APPLE fix their mistake and let us enjoy our very expensive phones.

Sep 29, 2016 1:20 PM in response to tyler from fort lauderdaleby paulfromg,Just one question to all who troubleshoot the problem:
Is there somebody who has resolved the problem with doing a full reset?
I´m on Public Beta 10.1 now, resetted the network settings, disabled all things mentioned here and on official Apple documents without success.
The battery lasts about 4h in Standby with 20min usage..congratulations..
I´m about to do a full reset now, but I just want to know if there is a "success story"Thanks for a reply if someone here still got battery at 10pm

Sep 29, 2016 1:57 PM in response to paulfromgby ellab318,I did a full reset to my iPhone 6 (Verizon) and it was successful. When I reset the phone it also prompted me to update my carrier setting, which may have been part of the problem.
After the full reset and restore my battery usage is as it was prior to IOS 10.0.1 (now 10.0.2) and it has not overheated once. I do not have my apps automatically updating and my mail is not set to push new updates, but those settings were like that before the heat-up/battery drain issue. It's probably been about a week since I did the full reset and no issues.

Sep 29, 2016 2:07 PM in response to Steve vby Inormandroy,I just updated to 10 and I wish I hadn't. This battery drain takes my battery from about 10 hours of use to almost half - WITHOUT MY HAVING DONE ANYTHING but a few calls and searching for emails. If I'd known this would happen I'd never have moved up to 10. It's not like battery life on apple products has ever been very good, but this is ridiculous. I sure hope Apple comes up with a fix REAL soon!!

Sep 29, 2016 2:32 PM in response to tyler from fort lauderdaleby 330gtc,Tyler, I agree with you but this did work for me. On 9.3.5 if you swipe right on the home page you get Siri/Nearby/?etc. but on 10.0.2 you get just a widget page. For my phone this page had every widget turned on to update. If I went to Settings those updates were not on. I deleted everyone from this new widgets page and still have functiong widgets. While it would be nice if Apple did a better job testing before throwing these things out here, this did work for me.

Sep 30, 2016 4:30 AM in response to Steve vby Jacques Bloch,I have the same problem too. When using apps with ios10 the battery life goes down from 100% to 20% in just less than two hours. This used to be three times as much on ios9.

Sep 30, 2016 1:47 PM in response to Steve vby seminolefans,FYI, if you criticize Apple's inaction and deflection on customers for this issue, they will delete your post. I have narrowed down my high heat and battery drain issue to the Facebook App in iOs 10.0.2

Oct 1, 2016 9:44 PM in response to Todd Jonzby Satanismo,Brilliant! This resolved the issue of battery drain and overheating immediatley after reading it. My Phillips Hue widget has been greyed out and unusable since updating to 10. I deleted the widget, restarted the iPad, and no more overheating and battery drain. Thanks!
