Sep 15, 2016 6:52 AM in response to EmmeElleby Kilgore-Trout,★HelpfulIf you mean in Notifications Center, no, you can't change it.
For the lock screen, you can select Banner or Alert on a per app basis.

Sep 15, 2016 6:55 AM in response to EmmeElleby Meg St._Clair,★HelpfulIn what context are you not liking the notifications? In the Notification Center? While you're in other apps? In the lock screen? You have the option of turning notifications for a given app off in the Lock Screen without turning them off entirely.

Sep 15, 2016 6:48 AM in response to EmmeElleby Skydiver119,It looks to me, instead of having a general 'notifications' under the general part of the menu, they are now handled via each app. If you go into the settings, scroll down to the app in qustion, tap on it, you should see the option for notifications, then you can set the type for each one. Do you want alerts or banners or badges? (Alerts on the home screen, banners over the top that drop down, little red circles on the app icon). There is also a 'none' option.
On mine it seems that it respected how I had some set (I had the vast majority of mine turned off) but some defaulted to the drop down banner, which I will need to go in and see if I can change)

Sep 15, 2016 6:54 AM in response to Kilgore-Troutby EmmeElle,Thank you, but, that's pretty much what i figured, i really need discrete notifications, the same way they were yesterday before the update, imagine being in a meeting with a client, and, suddenly a notification pops up revealing a message or appointment that can potentially jeopardize privilege ... or ... imagine the embarrassment if you are in court, and, a buddy texts you to join him for a beer ...
Is the only option really the flashing billboard or 'none' in the notifications setting

Sep 15, 2016 6:56 AM in response to Meg St._Clairby EmmeElle,Thank you too, but, my concerns in the lock screen ... so far, my only option is to turn them off ... yesterday, i had a discrete reminder on the lock screen, now, everybody in the room can see my notification ... not cool ...

Sep 15, 2016 7:00 AM in response to Skydiver119by EmmeElle,Thank you, my work is essential all about discretion, i've turned of the badges, i don't use banners, but, i like the alerts and i actually rely in them quite heavily, i just don't like the billboard splash ... if you remember your banners from yesterday before the update, you only saw a discrete notification, now however, the whole screen lights up so that everybody can see them ...
'None' however is sad if the only option is the billboard on or 'none'

Sep 15, 2016 7:05 AM in response to EmmeElleby Meg St._Clair,I keep my phone turned face down on the desk or table at work. I've always felt is was also more polite. People didn't think I was paying attention to my phone when they need me to pay attention to them. But, for me, the even better solution is my Apple Watch. I bought it primarily for the notifications. They are very discreet.

Sep 15, 2016 7:32 AM in response to Meg St._Clairby EmmeElle,Well, thank you for your message, but, i already have a really nice Breitling watch, i'm not about to purchase another one. However, you might have missed the point, and, it may be my fault for not explaining it. First of all, i respect all my clients, leaving my phone in my briefcase is not always an options, and, timely matters prevent me from turning my phone upside down.
So, here it is ... i haven't updated my iPhone 5s. With the same notification (mail) settings, i get a very discrete little blue icon with a very discreet notification, but, after the update on my iPhone 6 (with the exact same settings as my iphone 5s) the entire message is splashed all over the lock screen on my iphone6.

No, I understood you completely. I respect the people I work with as well. That's why I give them my full attention when they're in front of me.
You should do as you deem necessary. I was simply giving you an idea of how someone else deals with the problem of visible notifications. Sometimes, hearing how other people resolve an issue can generate some ideas for additional solutions.
