Q: iMac no longer sleeping with power button since 10.11.6 update
Hi folks..
Ok so Apple made us all update to 10.11.6 yesterday which we did. But now none of our iMacs
are able to be put to sleep by pressing the power button any more.
Is this a temporary bug or a permanent part of the update?
Any idea how to put it back to normal?
OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Please read Mac keyboard shortcuts - Apple Support.
To sleep a Mac with its power button takes slightly more than just a momentary tap, but less than what it takes for the dialog to appear.
If that does not work for you, then the SMC reset suggested by CMCSK is justified.
Having said that, it's a lot simpler to just walk away from your Mac when you're not using it. It will sleep according to your Energy Saver settings.
If you want an easier way to secure a desktop Mac from prying eyes when you walk away from it, I suggest a technique using a combination of "Hot Corners" to start Screen Saver and the requirement for a password immediately after screen saver begins. Swipe the cursor to the designated corner and walk away.
