Q: Tiny font using mail in iOS 10

After updating to iOS10, the font in the body of emails is really small, too small to read.  I have to zoom in, but then I have to scroll left and right to read each line.  Anyone else have this problem?

Rebooting would not technically kill the app. You will have to double tap the home button and swipe the mail app up, so it gets disappeared (That is killing the app). Try opening the mail app again and see if the text is still small.

Double press the home button and swipe up.

Thanks. I've done it numerous times on my iPhone 6Plus, but it doesn't work on my iPad Air2. I have problems reading & small print is driving me crazy. Same with my husband who is 72. He couldn't even download iOS 10 on his old iPad hat doesn't have the fingerprint capability. But, his iPhone 6 Plus is driving him crazy too.

And, it's confusing with the mail & threads. Now, I reply to my  group & since I BCC, I get copies of the one to the group & one to the person. So, I have double replies. It's gone bonkers. I've tried turning off the various thread settings, & it's worse. I just hope this gets fixed.

I also don't like nearly a whole text I receive on my lock screen. Anyone can read it! Even my Whatsapp is all out there for anyone. & my reminders that I need (ADD) just fill up my lock screen. There's no privacy. I'll need to see if I can limit them to banners & only 1 or 2 lines of incoming texts.

I think they did it for my nephew, a millennial who texts all the time so can read while driving. To me it's a nuisance.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

This also happened to me.  I noticed that emails sent in HTML format from Microsoft Outlook program do not respond to font size adjustment at all.  It seems like all of a sudden these types of emails are no longer "dyanamic" according to the new update.  Other emails that are not HTML sent from Microsoft Outlook are fine.  Restarting, killing app, hard reset - nothing works.

I am also finding problems with emails from my Yahoogroups list. Suddenly, everything is small font, I need to expand with my fingers, even my own. Also, I found when I reply to the group including the last person's email, I get BCC not only to my group email, but to the person. Whereas before, I only received one BCC and not two. It's adding to my emails exponentially.

And, your explanation seems to fit the emails I receive for notifications with links for my GoToWebinar classes. I have tried turning off organize by thread, most recent message, and complete threads, and it's even crazier. Then, the first message and not the last pops up. I've closed mail, changed settings, opened it. I had to change All Inboxes to filtered to me, & cc me otherwise, I have to check each and every email separately. All that went into inbox were unread.

THey havr really messed this up and i hope someone is reading all this at Apple development.

ANd, that crazy thing with the music at the bottom. My husband inadvertently found himself with music playing when he signed in. And, when typing, if I don't hit the space bar correctly, the music pops up. Woke my husb up the other night.

i Hate this iOS 10. I wish we could go back to 9! My son is a computer programmer & he won't touch Apple products. Sorry this is long, but I'm furious. Thanks for bearing with me, now, if I could only read what I wrote:)

HHop into the settings. Everything you mentioned can be customized. Just take some time to look around.

I spent an hour on the phone with Apple Support.  Unfortunately, the settings did not affect this problem.

Closing the application worked for me also.

Tried the "Complete Threads" advice above and email is still tiny and unreadable.

Did they push 10 to your phone, or did you download it?  Maybe you should give it a week next time.

P.S. Jobs would just tell you you're holding it wrong.

Microsoft Outlook apps is working well and doesn't have the tiny font issue. till Apple fix this bug you may use MS Outlook app.

Same problem for me. Seems we have all tried multiple things with  mostly all FAILS.

When I called apple support 2 days ago all they said was the next update should address this as they have had a lot of calls on this issue. I asked if he's assuming or for sure it is being addressed. He said for sure. No way to fully confirm that. But thats what I was told.

    Really frustrating. .

Thanks, this solved my issue.  It looks like when complete thread is on, it can't resize properly.

I had the same problem on an personal gmail incoming email. Swiping the Mail app closed fixed it, but we'll see if it happens on the next inbound email.
