Q: iTunes 12.5.1 - can't change Album Title or Year

I just downloaded the new iTunes version today and I uploaded a new CD, and I can't adjust the type-case on the album title nor can I adjust the release year.

EX: The album uploaded as Circle the Wagons.  I like to start all words with uppercase so I wanted to make it Circle The Wagons.  Everytime I change it and hit OK, it doesn't accept the change, same with release year of the album.

I have no problem changing the track listing though.

Why does Apple always have to constantly f with stuff? Leave it alone!

With casing changes you may want to type the whole thing, then edit the case to correct. It that still won't take add say a trailing X and desired the case change, apply the change, then remove the excess character.

If you're still not able to make changes see Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.

Thanks for the assistance. Unfortunately, none of these actions seem to work.

Another possibility for iTunes not processing tag updates is multiple tags.

    Multiple tags (Mp3 files only)

The ID3 specification allow files to have multiple tags in different versions and languages, but iTunes only works properly with single tags. When multiple tags are present it can sometimes fail to apply updates to the tag that it reads back (presumably updating one of the others in the file) and it is also possible that iPod & iTunes may have different rules for which tag they give priority to. This could lead to situations in which everything is properly organised in iTunes but then inexplicably falls apart on an iPod, or tracks that display different information in Windows Explorer or another media player. There are 3rd party tag editors that can manipulate multiple tags but I don't have a recommendation offhand. A workaround in iTunes is to use the menu File > Convert > Convert ID3 Tags... > None a few times to remove all existing tags and then File > Convert > Convert ID3 Tags... > v2.3 to build a fresh tag with the information still held in the iTunes database. I've read in the past that iTunes isn't fully compliant with the v2.4 spec. although this may no longer be the case, however support for v2.3 is widespread so I would suggest using v2.3 over v2.4. Any embedded artwork will be removed so this needs to be replaced if wanted. For Windows users running a script called CreateFolderArt before and after the tag cleaning process should manage this.

Since, like me, you prefer Title Case, you might want to try my TitleCase script.

I suppose the other thing to try is a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes as outlined in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
