Q: iphoto transfer into iMovie drops photo title

When I import photos from iPhoto into iMovie I lose the photo titles. Am I doing something wrong and is there a way to retain the photo title?

Titles added in iPhoto don't carry over when the photo is exported out of iPhoto.  They are just used internally within iPhoto.  Try naming a photo within iPhoto and dragging it to your desktop and you will see that the added iPhoto title does not go with it, but rather the original title added in finder or by the camera does stay.  In iMovie you can select the photo and go to File/Reveal in Finder, and it will take you to the photo in the finder, displaying it's original title or one you added in the finder, but not the title added in iPhoto.  

 

So, you are not doing anything wrong and I don't know of any way to retain the photo title other than what I said above.

    I don't use iPhoto much anymore, but I did a check and iMovie does not show titles in the viewer for photos in the timeline or when selected in the browser. If under the view menu you select to show skimmer info then you will see the title when skimming the photo in the browser.

    I actually meant to say the "Photos" application, not "iPhoto". But I think the answer is the same - no carryover for titles.
