Restrict apple store in messages app - iOS 10

The updated messages app has access to its own messages apple store and there are no parental restrictions that can disable this that I have found. You can set it up so that you can't purchase or install any apps but you can still view available apps in the store. Are there any settings I may have missed? If not, this seems like an oversight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
