Q: How to delete photos from my Macbook Air, but not iCloud
Hi there,
I have a MacBook Air running on El Capitan. I am building a new MacBook Air and attempting to port my old MacBook content over the the new MacBook. However, the content migration fails due to too much content on my old MacBook. Time to lose weight, so I super-sized my iCloud account and pushed all of my photos and videos to the cloud.
I then tried to delete the photos and videos from the Photos app on my old MacBook, and received the following warning:
"These items will be deleted from iCloud Photo Library on all of your devices."
Well, I don't want them deleted from the iCloud Photo Library and other devices, only my old MacBook. So I searched the issue and here is the consistent recommendation I found:
Apple>System Preferences>click Options next to Photos>deselect iCloud Photo Library. When I do this, I get the following warning:
"Do you want to download a copy of your iCloud Photo Library to this Mac?" My otions - Delete from Mac, Cancel or Download.
Well, none of those work for me.
Does anyone know how I can delete photos from only my old MacBook Air while still keeping those photos on iCloud?
Thanks much!!! BBMiami
