Q: Safari on older MacBook Air vs. iPad Air 2?

What have other people's experiences been?

In using Safari, our family's iPad Air 2 runs circles around the 2013 MacBook Air-- pages load nearly instantly, scrolling is smooth, multiple tabs are no problem, etc.

El Capitan could be a culprit.  But I'm basically posting to see what others have found-- and whether I should put up with some sluggishness or go on a trouble-shooting odyssey!

iPod touch, iOS 9.3.1, Where does all the battery life go?

I have a 2012 MacBook Air base model (4GB/128GB) with El Capitan and Safari functions extremely well -- like you describe for your iPad. I can't help with why yours does not but someone here will likely be able to help with that.
