Q: transfer photo library to external hard drive

Hi

I have tried to transfer my photo library to a formatted hard drive with plenty of space and get this error message

The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “Photos Library” can’t be read or written.

(Error code -36)

I need to transfer the photos to free up space on my computer

Can anyone help?

Yes that is why it will not work

 

For the PHotos library it can only be Mac OS extended (journaled) - no other format will work

You can either buy another EHD or you can use Disk Utility to erase adn reformat the drive you have - obviously you have to save any useful data someplace else while you erase and reformat
