Q: watchOS 3 release?

I thought watchOS 3 was to be released on 13 Sep 16, so I checked today, 15 Sep 16, and was told that I am up to date with version 2.2.2.

Is watchOS 3 just for the new Watch 2 and those of us with Watch 1 are s o l?

OK, just to make certain I understand correctly:

    1. watchOS 3 REQUIRES iOS 10

    2. iOS 10 REQUIRES iTunes 12.5.1

    3. iTunes 12.5.1 REQUIRES Mac OS 10.9.5

    4. Apple will not allow Mac OS 10.9.5 to be downloaded

    5. Thus I have to get Mac OS 10.11

    3. Or later.

    5. No - you can update your iPhone over the air.

macOS 11 Sierra hasn't been released yet according to the MAS

Not if I want to keep a copy of the update on my hard drive.

I'm making a fresh clone of my internal drive. then I will install El Capitan, followed by iTunes 12.5.1

macOS Sierra is due for release tomorrow, 20 September.

I did not say that it had been released.

I'll wait on it until maybe summer 2017.

This whole thing "almost" makes me want to go Android!
