TC Internet Off Still Get Error/Light

My roommates already have a TC set up for WiFi, so I turned the internet off on mine and connected it to my Desktop via ethernet for backups. However, any time I go into Airport Utility, it shows it as having an error message of 'Internet Connection' and the light is always blinking amber. Shouldn't these things recognize that I've told it to have the internet off and not freak out about it?

On a separate note, before I changed this setting, I had it extending the network, but it seemed to cause issues with the WiFi requiring restarting the main TC multiple times a week when the internet would stop working. So this issue is annoying, but better than the alternative.

The airport utility has an extremely limited number of options.

It will work best in router mode.. Or at least static IP and DHCP mode.

But since Internet is not plugged in .. then it will forevermore give you Internet Connection errors.. it is still a router don't forget.

To make the light go green simply select ignore.

Any errors are quickly fix by sticking your head in the sand.

What you should really do is plug in a USB drive and use that for your backups.. Not a network drive. Then you will not have network problems because there isn't any.
