iPad shows in iTunes but not Windows 7 Computer menu

i have a iPad 3rd Gen (Wi-Fi Only) with iOS 9.3.5, and i just updated my iTunes to 12.5.1.21 64-bit.

now it won't show up in Windows for me to transfer pictures. but it shows in iTunes and i can see it there, but i want to transfer manually just a few pics.

in Devices and Printers, it is listed under Unspecified as Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. in Device Manager, it shows up only as Apple Mobile Device USB Driver, and when i check the Hardware ID, it is USB/VID_05AC&PID_12A4&REV_0310 .

i've uninstalled iTunes (and all Apple add-ons), and reinstalled it, rebooted the iPad AND computer, tried stopping and starting the Apple Mobile Device service, and MANUALLY installing the driver from the Common Files folder, as it says on Apple's site.

am i missing something, or is iTunes 12 just broke?

Hello darkflux88,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that your iPad is recognized by iTunes, but not by the Windows 7 system. I have three support articles that are relevant to your issue. The first is more relevant to the iPad not being recognized by iTunes, but has some information for the Windows OS also. The other two relate more directly to Windows not recognizing the iPad.

Thanks for your reply Sterling. I just went through all the steps on all 3 links you've provided (even the ones I tried before), and I'm still having no luck. The iPod still shows in iTunes, but not on the computer where I can get to the pictures.

I have another computer with the old version of iTunes on it, and it isn't showing up there either (it used to at some point). I updated it to the latest iTunes (following the guide at the 3rd link), and it didn't change anything.

Not sure what changed, or if the device could just be faulty in some way, but then why would it show up in iTunes if that were the case? Any more ideas/stuff to try?
