did the ios 10 update and now my phone is completely useless, cant connect it to iTunes, it just keeps cycling off....nothing but a brick now...fix the update or replace my phone apple,

It sounds like there is a problem with your iPhone.
Take your iPhone to your local Apple Store and ask them to determine what is wrong with it.
Same here Apple, I just upgraded from 4s to 5s (not the most current handset I know) but the hardware is brand new, my phone was working perfectly until I installed IOS10, sluggish text, jittery scrolling, wi-if keeps toggling to 4G, WhatsApp camera won't work, Siri activates everytime I unlock my phone if I hold it down too long for a split second because you've changed the swipe to unlock, also to highlight, sometimes if my thumb has been submerged in water or is dirty from work it won't recognise my print (which I accept) but because you've decided to do away with the swipe now I have to **** about until the passcode pops up, where as before I could choose which way I wanted to unlock my phone, you've gone backwards in my eyes and I think you should stop ******* off your customers

If you would bother to read the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post here, you would find that this forum, while hosted by Apple, is not populated by Apple. Just users like you and me. Other than moderators, Apple does not read these forums at all. Ranting and raving, while not only prohibited by said TOU, also make the ranter and raver look completely foolish as again, no one from Apple is here.
The answer to you and the OP has been excellently provided by Allan. If you're having technical issues, bring the phone to Apple for evaluation.

If your iTunes version is not 12.5 or better, that may be why you are not seeing your phone in iTunes.
That requires Windows 7 or better, or OSX 10.9.5 or better.
"useless" is a pretty vague term to offer to those of us who may want to be of help.
