Q: Keeping synced photos on device when originals have been lost
Hi!
Product: iPhone 5 (32GB), just updated to iOS 10.0.1.
Some time ago, I synced a number of photos from my computer to my iPhone. I was recently forced to change computers and lost most of these photos. So the originals (from the last computer) are gone; they exist for me now only on my iPhone, from the last time I synced it to my (last) computer's photo album.
I'd like to sync my phone to my new computer to back it up, but I know that in doing so I'll lose the photos when the phone won't find them on my new computer during the sync. Is there any way to save these photos - either to the phone, or bringing them from the phone back to the computer - without having to create duplicates of every single one to the phone's Camera Roll?
Thanks.

You can go into the Photos>Moments view, select as many date groups as you wish (in this view, when you tap on Select, all photos within a particular Date get selected. Once you have all the photos selected, you can then tap on the Share button in the bottom left-hand corner, then click on the Save "xx" Images option. This will put all of those photos back into your Camera Roll.
Then, you want to hook up your device to the computer, and import those photos to your photos app on the computer. It is this Photos Library that the iTunes Photos sync works with. So, you need to get them there. Here is a support article with how to import your Camera Roll Photos:

Best of luck,
