Ever had to wait 24 hours for an iTunes card to be activated?

Purchased $130.00 of iTunes cards from local grocery store and the card won't activate? Now saying it may take up to 24 hours. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there anything I can do?

Normally the cards are activated by the retailer immediately at the time of purchase, through a Point-Of-Sale terminal.

If the cards don't work after 24 hours, take them back to the retailer.
