Sep 24, 2016 2:47 AM in response to Zoro64by oxmox11,same here it's ridiculous, I'm using star rating for years all my playlists are build up on it why does Apple feel the need to force me to change what works for over 10 years for me.....
Apple show some consumer conscious!!!!!

Sep 24, 2016 7:16 AM in response to Zoro64by Kovach,I have the same gripe... it is maddening. Invoking Siri is a very inconvenient workaround.
Not only did they replace it with Love/Dislike - you cannot even use that function while the phone is locked (which happens frequently). Now I need to first unlock my phone before I can rate something?
Apple, please bring this back! This is way too minimalist for most people... unnecessary removal.

Sep 24, 2016 8:56 AM in response to jelgerby jelger,Probably you thought already of this workaround.
I have made 5 playlists 'one star' to 'five stars' on my iPhone and add music accordingly.
These lists sync to your iTunes library and there you can add the stars.
Just press and hold the song which is playing and choose 'add to playlist'
It works for me at the moment, and hope apple will bring the feature back.

Sep 24, 2016 9:44 AM in response to Zoro64by Louis4300,It's unbelievable that Apple would remove the song star rating from ios 10. I use it to rate all my new music, to create playlists and to understand what I like on each album. Without this feature I would consider moving to a different platform. It is not difficult from a programming perspective to add this attribute to a song, please put it back!

Sep 24, 2016 3:34 PM in response to chbrunneby Michael_Heath,You can buy Cesium for a buck to rate songs on your iPhone. Since that app uses your Music library, it also updates the play count and "last played" in iTunes. However Cesium can't filter out non-downloaded songs from showing up in your iPhone playlists, where there's a trick to doing so in the iOS Music app. So this is just one more way Apple's hurt its customers who create playlists based on ratings we give the song.
It continues to astonish me how disrespectful Apple is towards its customers when it overrides our management of our own music library.

Sep 24, 2016 3:52 PM in response to Zoro64by steveeck,While the Cesium is a decent fix for star ratings --you can't create a playlist on Cesium.

Sep 25, 2016 11:49 AM in response to Johnnie Loveby pgonzalez,I've downgraded back to iOS 9.3.5 one day after trying to get used to these inconsiderate changes. Happy again.
Please continue to send your feedback to Apple first before posting here.
thx

Sep 26, 2016 7:52 AM in response to Zoro64by rimshot76,Yes, that's pretty irritating. I found that I can still manage star ratings in iTunes on my Mac, but I really prefer to manage the ratings on my phone, on the go. My smart playlists still seem to work the same, with respect to ratings. I guess that's good news.

Sep 26, 2016 3:06 PM in response to rimshot76by Lance Newhart,I'm just adding my agreement here. I've been rating my songs since 2005. I loved being able to tap the album cover and quickly change a song's rating without interrupting playback or messing around with 3rd party apps. I'm going to hold off trying to find some work around in hopes that Apple will fix this issue.
Apple, you come off as so pretentious. It seems as if you say, "We will charge 50% or more than this item should cost and you will pay it and you will be happy" and, "We know how your software should work and you will like it better". You make the best products now, but I can't wait for the day someone else makes something better so I can get off this Apple train. Try focusing on customer service and affordable products and I will be a fan. Now, I'm just a reluctant customer who wishes there was a competitor worth my money. -
Sep 28, 2016 6:28 AM in response to ZeesMommyby A. Heimert,I doubt it's an oversight - rather, it's a really unfortunate decision, likely to "force" people to adapt to the music store like/dislike approach. Sure, that works for the music store (maybe), but like you and others I've been rating songs for 10+ years so that I can selectively play the ones I like and exclude the ones I don't.
Apple has unfortunately shifted to adopting and retaining features not because they are useful but because they drive ancillary businesses, whether the music store or iCloud or whatever it is. (E.g., why can't we do home sharing with photos any more other than via iCloud?)

Sep 28, 2016 7:13 AM in response to Michael_Heathby TitoChel,I bought Cesium, fortunatly I can rate again songs and list are updated thank you.
lyrics are not there, but it's not the most important.
the question now, how long it will be before apple sect will allow Cesium to acces to the songs rating.
Apple want to force the users to use the iCloud and buy the music they have chosen for us.
I'm waiting to find an alternative to iPod to leave definitively the apple jail.
