Oct 7, 2016 7:44 AM in response to Zoro64by bmanilla,I'm so ****** about this. As a DJ, Apple share holder, and owner of several Apple products...I NEED THIS FUNCTIONALITY.
There's no reason to actively remove the 5 star rating functionality. You should be able to just tap the album (which does nothing now) and star the song like the previous iteration. Using only Siri for this will not work in 90% of the situations where I'm listening to and rating music.
Seriously considering leaving the Apple ecosystem...

Oct 7, 2016 8:37 AM in response to bmanillaby polro7,And also.... I don't know if someone had mentioned that before, but, what about the possibility of changing the order of the coming songs?! They have erase it too!!!
It was very useful to arrange the following songs to listen to!

Oct 7, 2016 1:25 PM in response to Gorgo10by bmanilla,Thanks so much Gorgo10! Just purchased the "Music Rating Widget" app and tested it, looks like this is a pretty seamless work around. No longer have to wait for Apple to get their sh_t together.
You're the man (or woman)!!! Have a great weekend

Oct 7, 2016 2:15 PM in response to Zoro64by Mike SM,It is hard to add anything else to what has been said here.
The upset part is that Apple sets the rules, people play with those rules, create massive database, and then Apple breaks their own rules, pretty much making the user's multi-year effort a waste of time.
They even do not consider verifying an idea with the user community before putting them into very hard spot.
... Well, I downgraded to iOS 9.3.5 and if Apple will not fix the five star rating, then I will be forced to join the rival. It is not easy step, but I can not manage my music in the way I want without five star rating.
... And after all this screw, the continues annoying reminders on iPhone to upgrade to iOS10 look like a cynical joke.

Send feedback to Apple. Ranting away on these forums accomplishes nothing. Threatening to go to the competition accomplishes nothing and it makes one look silly and immature. These are user forums and Apple does not normally have a presence here.

Oct 7, 2016 2:50 PM in response to bmanillaby Gorgo10,Np at all, I can't take the credit it was Benbork who posted this earlier . I will add, it works better for me because itunes will update the play list as you rate it using MRW. In my case I created a smart playlist with songs not yet rated or 3, 4 or 5 star. When a song comes on, if I rate it a 1 or 2 using the MRW, iTunes removes it from the list and then automatically skips to the next song.

Oct 8, 2016 2:17 PM in response to Zoro64by G_Pin,Same Here. The 5 star rating system has been a critical part of organizing my ~200GB personal library over the past 10+ years. Being able to rate (see: quickly sort) songs with more than just a +/- is a major reason I settled with Apple Music after trying several other music streaming services (Spotify, Google Play, and that little Swedish HiFi service Jay Z ran into the ground). As it was I was a grudging Apple Music subscriber, it just being the only* way to stream one's iTunes library and keep all the iTunes features. If these features continue to be abandoned my business & loyalty will soon be as well. Hopefully enough long-time iTunes users will react and Apple will get the message.
*Match is a joke and streams @ low quality

Oct 9, 2016 5:03 AM in response to Zoro64by UnlostWanderer ,So, I found a work-around that I’m quite happy with. It’s an inconspicuous $0.99 new app that just popped up to our rescue on the Apple app store. It’s quite tellingly named ‘Music Rating Widget’. Its widget nature means one can briskly and conveniently look at and rate tracks right from the home screen —w/o needing to unlock the device or digging into the music app for the star-rating feature— and w/o needing to stop the music to invoke Siri to dictate the star-rating (as it is now the only way to). And yes, iTunes lists do update when devises are synced. Let’s now hope that Apple doesn’t eliminates start-rating from the desktop iTunes all together in future OSes.
So, go thank the developer for his timely solution and let’s make him tons of cash at the expense of Apple’s imprudence.

Oct 10, 2016 3:52 AM in response to Zoro64by tsgadam,Well done Apple... yet again after a major iOS upgrade you've failed to continue to keep all the features of the previous version, are we going backwards now?
The only way I can rate things is by asking Siri to rate it for me.
Please can you resolve this and bring the rating option back (and preferably in the same location as before by taping the album artwork or song title)
Many thanks
Adam

Oct 10, 2016 7:25 AM in response to tsgadamby vGOboom,Another vote to bring this back. Like others, I've used this feature heavily as long as I've had an iTouch/iPhone. Removing it severely limits my ability to manage my music content, and I listen to my phone all day at work. Please bring the feature back on the phone.

Oct 10, 2016 11:02 AM in response to Zoro64by IQDENYC,Seriously!? You're killing me here. What possible justification could there be for removing star ratings from the Music app?
Some users rely heavily on this feature to organize and sort their music. It seems Apple has decided to ignore this need. I didn't find any explanation, notification, or even an acknowledgement in the iOS 10 release notes.
To the product manager who approved this regrettable decision: It may seem like Apple owns the music world right now, but this is exactly how great companies fail - disregard for customer experience.
Please put star ratings back in the Music app right away.
