Q: Different countries between Time Capsule and Airport Express

Hi,

I have a Time Capsule as main router and an Airport Express to extend the Time Capsule's wifi.

I bought the Time Capsule in Switzerland and therefore the channel configuration is limited to Western countries.

The Airport Express was bought in Russia and the channel configuration is limited to Eastern countries.

Will these work together well ?

Will my computers select the closest one anyway ?

Thanks.

The best way to try to answer your questions is to have you take a look at the following Wikipedia link on a list of current Wi-Fi channels that are supported world-wide.

From it note especially the channels supported for the 2.4 & 5 GHz bands between Europe and Russia. You should find that some, but not all, channels are used in common and these would be the ones that would "work together well." The 2.4 GHz band shouldn't be a problem between the two countries.

As far as your computers, they should select the base station with the strongest signal, not necessarily the one closest to it.
