Will iOS 10 work on a Third-Generation iPad? Model A1416?

I am having difficulty updating my 3rd Generation iPad (Model 1416)? It will not update to iOS 10.01 as my iPhone 6 has. Without the iOS 10 update being able to be installed, I cannot update some of the updates to my Mac-native and third-party apps. Is the reason I cannot update my Model A1415 iPad to iOS 10.01 because this model is no longer compatible with the latest software?

iOS 10 isn't compatible with the third gen iPad, so you won't be able to update it to it

iPad 3rd generation cannot update past iOS 9.3.5

The hardware is not powerful enough.

No, the third gen iPad doesn't support iOS 10 (beta or otherwise)
