Q: pages will not open file says I need latest version but have 5.6.2

I have the latest version of Pages running (5.6.2) but cannot open several older pages files as get a warning box that I need the latest version. How do I open these files?

iMAC, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

You are attempting to open a Pages v5 document via the File Chooser in Pages '09 — on a late release of Yosemite, or El Capitan. Quit Pages '09, and then double-click on that same document to open it in Pages v5.6.2.

 

Pages v5 documents are not backwards compatible with Pages '09, because the internal document formats are different.
