Q: What part of NO does Apple NOT Understand?

I have Auto updates turned off completely. Absolutely do not need my system updated when it is so perfectly fine now after a complete wipe and reload 4 weeks ago. I awoke this morning to a brand new "BUGGY" version of ITunes which I did not ask for and did not want as the previous version was working just fine. Why when All Auto Updates are turned off does Apple invade my privacy, ignore my instructions and just decided to go ahead and update it for me anyway? I am shocked at this utter disrespect for users. This Macbook belongs to me not you Apple, I decide what I install and not you !!!!!

Which OSX version are you running? Your profile says 10.6.7 but that cannot be because the App Store app requires 10.6.8 at least.

Completely disabling check for updates is unwise if you are running an OS which still gets security updates.  There is one variety that is not checked for when you do manual checking and unless you are lucky and read others discussing it and then use the Terminal commands to get it and install it you may miss it.  I now leave mine set for security and system updates (but there are no system updates for mine anymore).

Using only system updates checked under Mavericks I still run iTunes 7.5 and don't get any messages telling me to updates iTunes.

Did you uncheck the auto-update box in the iTunes preferences (advanced settings)?

THANKS Marco ..... no I did not have it turned off,  because I did not know I needed to. That must have been another moment of Apple genius to go and put a setting there and IGNORE their whole app store and OS update system which they have already embedded into system preferences.

I have now turned it off but I am still utterly amazed at how Apple have a setting in App store saying "Install app Updates" which as you can see from my first screen shot was turned off but I was of course expected to go digging in each app's own settings ..... hmmmm ...... Apple's engineering is getting rather messy like Microsoft.
