why does iTunes add songs to my up next each time I click the play button next to the songs?

Question

why does iTunes add songs to my up next each time I click the play button next to the songs?

Whenever I click the play button next to a song, an alphabetical list of songs appears in my up next area of iTunes. Is there a setting that I am not seeing? If I click the return button while on the song every thing is fine, the songs play in the order in which the album is.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It seems like you are having music sorted alphabetically in Up Next.
You may want to check these settings as iTunes can sort the music in this way.

Play songs in alphabetical order by song title, artist, or album (or sort by any other category): Click a column heading.

To select more categories, choose View > View Options.

Customize the order that songs play in: Click the column heading above the numbers, then drag songs to change their order.
