Apple TV conundrum

So, my Apple TV is on an old wi-fi network (mum's), and I need to change it to a new one (my apartment); unfortunately, the battery in the remote is dead, and the Remote App requires you to be on the same wi-fi network. How do you fix that without buying a battery?

Meg,

Thank you for the reply. Its night time in Australia, and I'm shooting a music video tomorrow morning, and needed the TV as part of the scene. However, I did a bit more searching on YouTube, and found this video which solved that problem:

It seems to be the only video/resource online on how to solve the problem. 🙂

Actually, that is not my YouTube account. I'm not annoyed, however, at your accustation as I know what spammers are like and understand your frustration. 🙂 I simply found the answer not long after I posted here and on another forum, and found the decency to let anyone who replied know.

Personally, I would never share my social media details on a forum unless it was relevant. And I don't think the guy who owns that video is a singer in an industrial metal band. 😉

You don't have to watch the video, just know that it was helpful. It explained how you can connect your Apple TV directly to your Wi-Fi modem with an ethernet cable to gain access without an Apple remote control. I'm assuming that is common knowledge, or archived on this site somewhere; but I couldn't find it.

Oh, and I would have bought a 50 cent battery if I had the time. I had to shoot a music video the following morning, and didn't have time to race to the convenient store to find one. But that is just my fault for being unorganised.
