use iMac as monitor for xbox?

so i've got a iMac and and xbox 360

i noticed there's a mini-DVI port on the iMac

is there any way to hook the xbox up to the iMac so it acts like a monitor?

iMac (Intel CPU), Mac OS X (10.4.5)

well after searching forums here, elsewhere, and googling, it guess i'll answer my own question...

since there's no video IN, there's currently no way of connecting a console to an iMac

but it sounds like a regular request

anyone know of a 3rd party device or anything coming out to cover this demand?

Thanks for the suggestion Steve. I was unaware of that device!

My only concern is that it accepts S-Video and composite video through its breakout cable

The xbox 360 pumps 720p and higher, so if EyeTV accepted component video, I'd be excited.

But as is, I think I wouldn't be getting the best resolution possible

Any device that you connect between your iMac and your Xbox is going to cause a pretty noticable video lag.
In my opinion, you shouldn't bother. Your video game experience just won't be up to par.

You need to ask yourself why they included the word 'virtually' in that statement.
It's the marketing way of saying, "There is some latency."

If there was truly no lag, they would simply make a statement such as "100% latency free!" or "Without latency."

Those are good points, Rich - thanks for your input.

Considering the price of the EyeTV alone, I should put the $$$ towards a good LCD with quick refresh rate.

I actually already have my xbox 360 hooked up to a CRT, and the high definition is awesome. But no matter what adjustments I make, it's still on the dark side - sometimes TOO dark to enjoy.

It's a shame that I have this iMac with a beautiful bright display that I can't take advantage of. ARGHHHH
