Q: Documents & Data FAIL
I have been an Apple supporter for many years, but my recent experience with Documents & Data makes it hard to see this as a good choice. I have an iphone 6 128 GB and I have been running our of hard drive space. When I connected my phone to itunes I would see that 83 GB of space were taken by the mysterious Documents & Data. Of course I tried every suggested solution out there, such as going app by app in settings and deleting the documents and data for the app, but the problem was that when I looked at usage in the phone and added up the space used by all apps with their documents and data the total would be 30ish GB.
Needless to say this was driving me crazy. Finally, I had to try the solution that I did not want to have to try, which was backing up the phone, erasing all content and restoring from the backup. I did it yesterday, and of course today I have 80GB of free space. I have all the same apps I had before, with all the same content and the same functionality, meaning I just got rid of junk cache and files that my phone was not really using. My question is, how is it possible that this is the only way to solve the problem? I know apple likes to lock us into using specific programs and not allowing us access to the files in the iphone through explorer type solutions, but this is truly crazy.
