Q: iOS 10 zoom causing lag & unresponsiveness

Hello,

    I have multiple devices running iOS 10 ranging from an iPhone 5S, iPad mini 4, iPhone SE, and iPad Air 2.  I have noticed that when the zoom toggle in settings is set to on (whether zoomed in or not), I experience a tremendous amount of lag, touch unresponsiveness, and inaccurate touching.  It doesn't matter if I'm zoomed in all the way or zoomed out (double-tap with 3 fingers), simple navigation creates all sorts of problems for me.  I'll describe a few issues that I am encountering below.;

1)  Touch commands will sometimes not register.  Even simple actions such as scrolling through different pages on the home screen to pinch-to-zoom in Safari & pictures have problems

2)  When zoomed in, a lot of times, my button pressed are inaccurate.  For example, a major problem I have is while in the mail app.  If I swipe to the left to delete an email, I will get sporadic movement.  In most cases, I have to swipe a little to the right of the line in order to do a full swipe.  In other cases, sometimes touching a button like "OK" or pressing another button does not register.  I may have to press slightly above, below, or around it to register.  This is extremely troublesome.  I especially have this issue with my iPad Air 2.  I'm leaning towards it being a faulty digitizer.

Please note that when the zoom toggle is set to off in the settings app, I have no issues with lag or unresponsiveness.

Is anyone else having this same issue?

iPad Air, iOS 9.3.5, iPad Air 2

Yes, I can confirm that iOS 10.1 beta 2 public fixes this issue.  For those of you that want to install the update, go to beta.apple.com, sign up, and follow the instructions to install.  I'm a happy camper again!  :)

liquidxryu, are you sure it's fixed in iOS 10.1 beta 2? My device felt quicker too after a reset, but the issue stayed.

Does somebody has the problem with newer iOS devices too?

Tom_BE--I am positive that iOS 10.1 beta 2 has resolved the issue for both my iPad Air 2 & iPhone 7 Plus.  I've been using it for 1 day now and it's working great so far.

In iOS 10.0.2, I, too, tried resetting all settings & restoring as new device with no resolution.  It is mostdefinitely an iOS 10.0.x issue.

HI, sorry I don't have a solution but I am also

having the same problem on my iPhone SE. I didn't figure out that it is the zoom causing the issue, but it appears to

be. This needs to be fixed in a software update.

After restoring my iPhone and discovering that the issue is still there, I finally came across this thread!!

This issue was on later versions of iOS 9 and has been made worse with the iOS 10 release.  I'm glad in a way that I'm not the only one finding this problem as I do rely on Zoom for 95% of my phone and iPad use.

Please Apple!  Let there be an end to this!!!

I only figured it out after restoring my iPhone 6plus and having no issue using an actual magnifying glass to do the set up and such.  When I switch Zoom off, the problem has gone.

I've given up.  Turned off all zooming and font size adjustments.  Had to install the Gmail app because the problem is affecting the Apple mail app to the point I can't read email at all at times.

If I'm going to have to use Google apps to make the phone work - might as well have a Google phone.  Sorry Apple - so long.  Next time - test your "updates."  #samsungS7

I tried iOS 10.1 public beta 3 and I can confirm that the problem is solved! So if you really want the issue to be solved, you should go to beta.apple.com and install it.
