Q: iPhone 7 animation lag...

Just picked up my iPhone 7 32GB.. Noticed a lagg when opening and closing a app for the first time.

When i press the home button and open the app again all goes smooth..
Already talked to Apple support, they suggested to restore to factory with IOS 10.0.1 and not to restore any backups.
Just did that, still lagg...  Bit disappointment, my iPhone 6 was smoother..

Anybody else this issue? Must be! Check it out really good, I think this is gonne be reported alot!

Same problem... I restored via an ipsw and noticed the delay/animation stutter greatly reduced. However, when i restored a backup, the delay/animation stutter returned in full force. Not exactly sure what this tells us other than perhaps a certain combination of settings that reduces performance.

I just talked to the Apple employee and he said that he sent an official complaint to Apple for me.  He ran diagnostics on my phone and he found nothing wrong with the hardware at all.  He said the more people come to the apple store and complain to us and we can send their complaints directly to Apple it'll be easier for the problem to be noticed and fixed with an update

FYI, I found a possible solution to this. I've noticed that if the Settings | Accessibility | Zoom option is set to On, the animation stutters. It is greatly improved by turning this OFF. Give it a try.

OMG I went to the Apple Store and explained the issue and they said if they had a replacement they would give me a new one right away but they don't have any.  They asked me to remove my passcode and took the iPhone for diagnosis.  When they brought it back they said there's nothing wrong with your hardware,  this is a software issue most likely.  But when I walked out of there I realize the lag was a lot less and I had no clue what they did until you mentioned  the zoom option. I knew I had that turned on and they turned it off without telling me... lol

it reduces the lag by a lot. Once zoom is switched on, it's really bad again.

It's 100% a software issue. My zoom was already turned off, so I turned it on and then off again. I have not noticed much difference to be honest.

Wow, they didn't tell you they changed the option?! Crazy.

I made the change zoom off and I notice much difference, are now much more fluid transitions!

It is still not as smooth as on my iPhone 6 but has improved!

Call Apple Care few days ago and was upgraded to a superior, they said they are aware of the problem and engineers are working to fix it in a future update! Hopefully soon to avoid having to disable options for getting good performance in the "most powerful" iPhone...

Zoom on or off doesnt matter. lag is lag! its a software glitch like many other UI glitches on iOS 10 only on the iPhone 7.

The zoom off option removes the stutter. So animation is now smooth, however the delay between the time you presses the home button and the time it actually works is still there. Atleast less noticeable. Thank you for the very good suggestion

the zoom off option is off by default. whoever posted that this is a fix is nuts. the issue is there with or without the zoom option enabled or disable.

Easy turbo…  that was me.  It has indeed fix the problem for myself and a few others on this post.  This is obviously a software bug caused by what looks like in part the zoom option.  There definitely could be other factors involved, but this option appears to be part of this bug.  I don't really have the time to take a video to prove it to you, I guess you will just have to take my word for it.

If it doesn't work for you, you will have to simply wait for the official fix from Apple.

Ok guys I may have stumbled upon the solution while trying to sort out another issue. Turning the contacts sync off for any outlook account completely fixed the lag issue for me. Enjoying the true performance of the iPhone 7 now

    Give it a try.

I don't recall stating not having any account logged or a fresh install? And noticing an absence of consistent animation lag after disabling one of my 4 accounts is not a very convincing placebo scenario is it? If it doesn't work for you, as pointed out earlier, you can always wait for an official apple fix. No need to dish someone else's solution to make yourself feel better. We are all here to share our ideas, hence the term "community".
