"Add to Up Next" in Music App iOS 10

The "add to up next" was a great feature in iOS 9 where you can just select music and to your queue which would play the songs in that order.

iOS 10 seems to have removed this feature. The only thing that is available is the "play next" feature and when you select additional music, they get queued ahead of the previous ones I have selected.

Am I missing something or did iOS 10 really removed this feature?

I found the up next playlist on the new update, they did not take it away. Add any song to your up next, then click on the song that is playing at the moment, and scroll upwards, and it shows your up next queue where you can move them around and delete songs from the queue as well, hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply. Correct, this way has always worked as long as it’s NOT a radio station. In iOS 9, you used to be able to listen to a radio station and add your own “up next” songs from your library, and when that song was done, it would continue radio play. I have not seen this feature since iOS 9. Spotify has it. Not sure why Apple would get rid of it.

I'm having the same issue. Only in certain playlists and artists am I able to find the option for Play Later, generally I am only shown the Play Next option. This plays the songs in the opposite order, the first song you select to Play Next ends up at the bottom of the list. I am hoping someone can figure out why this is happening. If enough posts are made Apple will release an update to fix this issue like they did with Camera Roll!

I think, hope, it's a bug. Do this to see the "play later" option which works as before but without shuffle:

1. Turn off shuffle from the "up next" screen then close the music app, don't just exit the app

2. Open the music app then 3D touch, press and hold, a song and select "play next"

3. 3D touch another song, you will now see the "play later" option. Selecting play later will add it as before to the bottom of your up next list. The "play later" option will now be there for all other songs.

However, you will not have shuffle availabl... Apple please fix this

Thanks for this. Same as you this is my favorite feature and I couldn't work out why Play Later shows sometimes and not others. Seems to relate to the way songs are added to queue and the queue being a limited number, so if it is full you get no Play Later option. Tapping a song on a playlist seems to add the whole playlist below that song and so fills up the queue.

Was going to switch to Spotify but now I have a workaround I will live with this and hope that Apple fixes it

I found a way to find the "play later" feature. Go to the album of the song you want to listen to and press and hold if you have force touch or whatever and select play next and then you can select other songs from other albums or playlists and the play later feature comes up. and if you want to rearrange your queue, turn off the repeat feature and the three lines will appear and you can rearrange the list.

hooefully thus helps.

This is a feature they need to bring back ASAP. The way they have changed (and the suggestions below) are absolutely NOT the same! There is no way to clear the queue unless you exit/close the app completely. When I select a song, it automatically queues up ALL of the songs after it! That's dumb! The only way to add songs when there are certain ones that you want to hear without creating a playlist, is to do it individually and when you do, a screen comes up saying it's been added to the queue (time waster), or some other stupid message... Apple please change the "add to" and "clear" features back to how it was in the iOS 9(.whatever) update. The new way is extremely (and unnecessarily) time consuming and does not yield the same results. You also need to bring back the star ratings, as consumers use this for playing songs as well. The music app wasn't broke before and there was no need for those features to be removed.

Hi,

same issue here. I think it is kinda related to iCloud library. When I switch iCloud library off, "play later" start appearing again. After turning iCloud library back on, "play later" option is there for a while (say, a day or so) and then dissappears.

I have more issues with Music app after upgrading to iOS 10, was hoping for Apple to fix it soon, but 10.1 is out and still no good news.
