the printer can not be connected to the home network

I have a brother MFC-J470DW printer, in the last time the printer was usually offline , and it was necessary turn off and turn on again the printer any time when I wanted to use it. I decided to delete the printer and reinstall, however I can't find the printer in my network, both the printer and the router are connected and are on. what is possible to do to find the printer.

I would double check to see if the printer is set in DHCP or static. (Set to DHCP)

I know its not mentioned in your post but possibly you changed your network IP address on your existing router or possible purchased a new router and set a different IP address.

The printer may be connected to the network but with incorrect IP address set in place then a connection between your computer and printer will not happen.

you can check the IP address of your network by using your mac.

go to system preferences, network, click advanced, click TCP/IP on the top bar and the IP address will be listed but only really pay attention to the first 3 groups eg. 192.168.0

Now go to your printer and check to see what network it is connected to.

here is the link to the brother web site which you can download the user manual for your printer.

your printer should be connected to the network using the same first 3 groups, if not then that is why you are having connection issues with the printer.
