Custom Lyrics on iOS 10

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else was having problems with their custom lyrics on Apple Music iOS 10?

My lyrics appear to look more like coding than how they appear on iTunes, I would quite like to delete my lyrics & just use the ones from Apple Music but every time I delete my custom lyrics & untick the box they reappear.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Much appreciated.

Hi Rachel,

in iTunes, de-select all your music, then sync your iphone and check to make sure the music is no longer accessible in the device's Music. then re-select the music you want and re-sync your iphone, and you should see the lyrics options (both ways) and the lyrics for songs that either have them available, or that you've added lyrics to manually (not listed as "custom lyrics" in each file in iTunes).

I had the same problem as everyone here and this solution worked for all of my phones, which are all now on iOS10.

*** For those that don't see the custom lyrics checkbox make sure you've updated the latest iTunes and the lates iOS software. Hope this helps! 🙂

Other folks have given this same advice, and they come back, saying that the lyrics disappear later. I don't want to remove and replace all of my music and only temporarily solve this annoying issue. So I'll wait for Apple to fix it. When I called Apple Care this morning, the tech had no clue. I had to find this thread to educate her, but she promised to kick it upstairs. My guess is it'll be fixed soon.

Thanks, but according to other contributors here who have removed their music and synced it back, the cure is only temporary. The risk is that if you've purchased music from the iTunes store, and remove it, you could perhaps lose it if that music is no longer available. I got this advice from Apple Support on the phone. So I'm just going to wait for Apple to fix the problem. I can survive without lyrics for a good amount of time. 🙂

yeah their copy-paste answer list isn't going to fix this one. this is a legitimate bug in their software. every time I sync my music, lyrics magically reappear on songs that it had been missing from while removing it from others. even if I don't change any metadata anywhere in my library and sync an hour apart, s hit happens randomly. Apple needs to own up to their mistake and fix this because it's super fuking annoying

Hi all,

I have been bothering by the same issue as well and have tried all the methods, e.g. check/uncheck, uninstalled/reinstall, etc.

Although the issue has not been fully resolved, I have found a trick which may temporarily restore the lyrics in your iPhone/iPad. Key tricks as follows:

1) Lyrics would not be properly shown if there is any "&" or special symbol in the lyrics. Remove/replace such abbreviation/symbol;

2) Leave the first line of the lyric blank & start the lyric on the second line.

After the above action, you may resync your device with itune and the lyrics should reappear in your device. Unfortunately, the above method could not completely resolve the bug problem in which some lyrics may disappear again for reset of device.

Despite not desirable, another method is to downgrade the iOS back to 9.x.

Hope Apple will fix the bugs ASAP, PLEASE
